Decoration tips for your candlelight dinner

A candlelight dinner is very romantic and is always a very special occasion. And that’s why artful food presentation and table decorations are very important.

Choose your finest tableware and a special tablecloth, both naturally colour-coordinated. Decorate the table with fresh flowers or rose petals and use a special arrangement of the napkins to set a loving accent.

The Menu

(Napkin with rose motif)
Cut one rose motif out of the napkin and glue it onto an 8-1/2 by 11“ sheet of white paper. Alternatively, you can use parchment paper or textured paper (available in stationery shops).
Fold the paper in half and write the menu on it with a calligrapher’s pen (cartridge pen, felt-tip pen, etc.). Of course, you can also write the menu on the computer, print it out, and glue it onto the folded paper.
You can also glue a matching ribbon around the menu or decorate the card with stickers (e.g. little stars and hearts) along the border.

A Heart for Lovers, Because a Picture (of a Heart) Says More than a Thousand Words...

(Napkin with rose motif)
Set the napkins on the table with the left side opened out.
Fold the upper edge onto the lower edge to form a pocket open at the bottom. Then fold the lower half up to 2 cm beneath the upper edge.
Fold the corners in on the two narrow sides to form a point (fold the bottom edges in a little more).
Fold the points in 2 cm toward the centre and press the folded edges together. Fold the two narrow sides up to form the heart.
Affix the heart to the stem of the glass with scotch tape or double-sided adhesive tape.
Tip: You can also use the napkin heart as a coaster for the glass.

Rose Pouches

(Solid cream colour napkins and small rose motif napkins)
Set the motif napkins on the table with the left side folded out.
Fold the lower edge onto the upper edge to form a pocket open at the top.
Fold the side edge in to the back to form a small pouch.
Unfold the solid colour napkins, fold into thirds and fold both narrow edges to the back.
Set the napkin pouches on the solid colour napkins so that the lower edges are flush.
You can place a red rose into the pocket next to the tableware, or if desired an Amaretto Heart from the recipe section to nibble on before dinner.

Romantic Table Decoration
(Small solid red napkins)
Set three napkins diagonally overlapping in the centre of the table. Place three votive candles on them and scatter several rose petals decoratively around the centrepiece.

Romantic Wine Cooler
(Large rose motif napkin)
Unfold the napkin and wrap it around the wine cooler. If your wine cooler is a little wider, simply glue two napkins together on the narrow ends.
Secure the napkin by wrapping a piece of ivy or a ribbon around it.
Now your personal wine cooler for the romantic candlelight dinner is ready!
